What puts a SKIDCAR System® at the top of a police department’s list of equipment needs? The fact that more officers nationwide die in the line of duty from vehicle-related accidents than from gunfire. The Omaha PD began training with their new SKIDCAR™ in November 2009 and is systematically putting officers through the program weekly to reinforce better vehicle control habits. They demonstrated the SKIDCAR to the public and media last month during their first annual Police Appreciation Day.
